Vijayawada: A dacoit involved in robberies across several districts in the state was arrested here and goods worth Rs 16 lakh were seized from him, a top police official said today.

Adapa Venkanna of Manglagiri in Guntur district was arrested yesterday and gold ornaments, cash and two cars worth Rs 16 lakh were seized from him, City Police Commissioner K V Rajendranath Reddy said in a press release.

He has served seven years in prison from 1992 and has 16 warrants pending against him at several police stations, Reddy said.

Venkanna has committed 13 crimes after being released from the Gudivida sub-jail on March 26, 2008, he said.

The dacoit operated in Ibrahimpatnam, Patamata, Vijaywada, Kachiguda in Hyderabad, he added.
