Srinagar: People's Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today sought a high-level probe into the alleged links of Malegaon blast accused Dayanand Pandey with Jammu and Kashmir politicians, including National Conference President Omar Abdullah and former Governor S K Sinha.
"There should be a probe into all aspects of the activities of Dayanand Pandey. He has been a guest of Sinha and shared dias with Omar Abdullah," Mehbooba told reporters here.
A controversy stirred in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday after PDP leader Tari Hamid Karra displayed a photograph of Pandey sharing the dias with Omar at a function here.
Mehbooba, however, refused to name any agency to conduct the probe.
Omar Abdullah yesterday volunteered for probe by any agency, including CBI and joint parliamentary committee, to investigate the allegations against him and all aspects of "Hindu terrorism".
Sinha has said the "allegations and insinuations" against him of hosting Pande during his tenure were totally "false and malicious".
Mehbooba alleged that there seems to be a clear nexus between communal elements and National Conference as many communal leaders were campaigning for NC candidates to garner Hindu votes.
"Omar was a part of the NDA government in which he supported the POTA law. National Conference has a communal agenda and want to keep communal forces in good humour," the PDP president alleged.
Mehbooba questioned the presence of Omar at a function where Pandey was also present. "This man is accused of killing Muslims... What was he (Omar) doing there. Why was not any other prominent Muslim leader invited to the function?" she asked. Source : PTI
