Kottayam: Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani, MLA, today said unity among all factions of Kerala Congress was the need of the hour.
Inaugurating a meeting of the United Forum of Kerala Congress groups here, the former state revenue minister said the aim of Kerala Congress, formed on October 9,1944,was to protect the interests of farmers in the state.
He said the global financial crisis could be solved only through development of rural areas. The state was passing through a danger zone, he said.
Mani accused the government of neglecting agricultural sector.
In his presidential address, Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai said no political party could take the Kerala Congress for a ride.
He said CPI (M) should take responsibility for nurturing terrorism in the state. Kerala Congress (Joseph) group would join the forum shortly, he said.
Members of state committees, district presidents and members of district and state level bodies of feeder organisations of the four factions of Kerala Congress led by Mani, Balakrishna Pillai, T M Jacob and P C George MLA were present at the meeting.
