Police need to upgrade intelligence capacity: PM
Sunday, November 23, 2008 12:30 [IST]

New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday said police forces needed to upgrade their systems and intelligence capacities, especially in states where policing was ineffective.

He said that there needs to be a greater emphasis on shoring up "actionable intelligence" especially when the country was facing huge challenges in fighting terror.

The prime minister was addressing a two-day conference of director generals of police (DGP) and inspector generals of police (IGP) at Vigyan Bhavan here.
