Pak Hindu pilgrims visiting temples in India
Sunday, November 23, 2008 12:31 [IST]

Karachi: Over 250 Hindus from across Pakistan's southern Sindh province have embarked on a pilgrimage to temples and shrines in India.

The group began their journey from Mirpurkhas railway station yesterday. It will travel to India by the Thar Express trans-border train service. The pilgrims will also visit other religious sites in the country.

After assembling at Mirpurkhas, the pilgrims participated in a colourful ceremony at Ponj Temple Friday night. The event was attended by a large number of Hindus and activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

The pilgrims told reporters that they would offer special prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Pakistan during the pilgrimage. The contingent will be in India for one-and-half months.
