New Delhi: Lok Jan Shakti party leader Ram Vilas Paswan Monday accused the BJP of following double standards in dealing with terror-related incidents.
BJP's defence of the Malegaon accused is a clear indication of hypocrisy and partisan attitude of the party, Paswan said addressing a Muslim-dominated gathering in the economically backward Deoli constituency here.
"Earlier, when Muslims were arrested after terror strikes in the country, the BJP was quick in demanding capital punishment for the accused. Now they are defending the people arrested in connection with the Malegaon blast terming the investigation as half-baked," Paswan said.
He also lashed out at the Orissa government for remaining a "mute spectator" towards the violence against Christians.
"The administration in Orissa was a mute spectator in face of violent attacks against Christians and no action was taken against the perpetrators," he said.
Terming the BJP's sister organisations, the RSS and the VHP, as "the real terrorists", the Dalit leader said, "the Malegaon blast probe has made it amply clear that organisations like the RSS and the VHP are the real terrorists".
He was campaigning for LJP candidate D C Kapil from the constituency.
Lambasting the administration in Mumbai for failing to prevent attacks on north Indians, Paswan said if voted to the Assembly his candidates will ensure that people from UP and Bihar feel safe in the national capital.
