Jolly seeks Dikshit's vote, blessings
Tuesday, November 25, 2008 13:24 [IST]

New Delhi: In an unique election stunt, BJP candidate Vijay Jolly today went to the residence of his electoral rival Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here to seek her vote.

Jolly, the BJP candidate for New Delhi constituency, drove to Dikshit's 3-Motilal Nehru Place residence this morning along with his wife and two children to seek her "blessings".

"I have come here to seek the blessings of Sheilaji and also to request for her vote as she is a voter of this constituency," he told reporters as he posed with Dikshit for the shutterbugs.

Jolly said he was thankful to the Chief Minister for sparing her time for him though she was busy with campaigning for Congress candidates for the November 29 Delhi Assembly elections.

"I believe in the politics of affection and respect. Being younger to her, it is my right to seek her blessings for my success," said the one-time sitting MLA from Saket constituency, who has shifted this time to the newly created New Delhi Assembly seat.

During his meeting, Jolly claimed, he also took up the grievances of common people living in the constituency like lack of potable water in New Delhi, traffic problem and increasing prices of essential commodities.

"I am happy that she took notice of that... This is the healthy form of democracy as opposition is having a dialogue with the ruling party," he said.

"I have been a hardcore critic of hers both inside and outside during the last ten years and I am confident to give her a strong fight in this elections," Jolly added.
