Bhopal: A local court has awarded two years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs three lakh on the State Bank of India's Chief Manager in connection with a corruption case here.

The Special Session Judge A K Pandey yesterday convicted Chief Manager LK Nagpal on corruption charges.

According to prosecution, Nagpal during his posting in the bank at Bhopal from January 1,1986 to December 31,1996 misused his official position and accumulated cash, jewelery and property worth several lakh.

Following a complaint in this regard, the CBI probed the case and found that property worth Rs 10.50 lakh was amassed by him which was disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Later CBI registered a case and submitted the challan (case diary) in the court following which the judge awarded the sentence.
