New Delhi: The Election Commission has denied two of BJP's hustings in the capital where L K Advani and Narendra Modi were scheduled to address party workers.
Citing violation of model code of conduct for elections, the Commission denied a meeting in Chandni Chowk in central Delhi tomorrow where Advani was to make a speech, and another Modi rally at Panchkuian road in New Delhi constituency this evening.
Both the meetings were organised on roadsides, which were not allowed as per poll guidelines prepared by the Commission.
BJP General Secretary Vijay Goel claimed that MCD and Delhi Police had given permission for Advani's rally but the Commission refused to give its nod for the meeting citing guidelines for campaigning.
He alleged that police were creating hurdles in the campaigning of BJP candidates on "one pretext or the other on the instructions of the Congress-led UPA government".
"The Congress is not organising many rallies as they have nothing to tell the people. They do not want star BJP leaders to campaign and are using police to scuttle our campaigning," he claimed. Source : PTI
