Tuesday, November 25, 2008 21:00 [IST]
Jammu: Several women activists from different political parties today launched a new organisation under the banner of Mahila Sangarsh Samiti Jammu .

"The new party will be non-political in nature and will fight for the cause of women in Jammu region," its president Swaran Sharma told media reporters here.

Sharma, who had resigned from the Congress after being associated with it for 26 years, claimed that women faced severe discrimination in the administration and other fields.

She alleged that the government has completely neglected the womenfolk and even political parties have ignored them.

Vice-president of the samiti Geeta Thakur, who had also resigned from BJP, said that women of Jammu region will be brought under the banner of Samiti.
