Red alert sounded across Tripura
Friday, November 28, 2008 13:56 [IST]

Agartala: A red alert has been sounded across Tripura and security has been beefed up by the Border Security Force along the 856-km-long porous Indo-Bangla border following the terror attacks in Mumbai.

"Police are keeping a close vigil on suspicious movement of people along the entire length of the border which has been sealed. Random checking of vehicles are being done," DGP Pranay Sahay told reporters here today.

Guarding of vital installations like the civil secretariat, Raj Bhavan, high court and the Tripura Assembly house has been tightened, he said.

The DIG of BSF and chief public relation officer A K Singh said that the strength of border guards have been increased and patrolling has been intensified along the international border.

Steps had also been taken to ensure better coordination between border outposts and security posts along the border, he said.
