MP politicians booked for threatening officers

Morena: The district police has registered cases against a state cabinet minister and a Congress leader for allegedly beating up and threatening two presiding officers during the Assembly elections.

Cases have been registered against Madhya Pradesh Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Rustam Singh and state Congress Vice-President Sobran Singh Mawai, who are rivals for the Morena Assembly seat.

Singh has been charged with slapping Presiding Officer Ram Lakhan Yadav yesterday. During polling at booth number 32,Singh had a heated altercation with Yadav and allegedly slapped him, police sources said.

The case against Singh has been registered under various sections of the IPC and People's Representation Act. A similar case has been registered against Mawai who tried to threaten the presiding officer at Lalpura polling booth.
