Saturday, November 29, 2008 13:15 [IST]

obama_closeup_400New Delhi: US president-elect Barack Obama Saturday telephoned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and conveyed his deepest condolences over the terror attack on Mumbai that lasted nearly 60 hours, killing 148 people.

"He expressed his deepest condolences on the tragedy," a statement from the prime minister's office said. The terror attack began Wednesday night and ended Saturday morning.

Obama had Thursday condemned the audacious strike in Mumbai in which terrorists targeted 10 prominent landmarks. He has also spoken to India's Ambassador to the US Ronen Sen and conveyed his support for India's fight against terrorism.
