Suva: A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck between the Pacific Ocean nations of Tonga and Fiji today, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The quake hit at 1759 GMT (2329 IST) yesterday, 377 kilometres northwest of the Tongan capital Nuku alofa, the US Geological Survey said.

It was registered at a depth of 356 kilometres.

No tsunami warning was immediately issued.
