Maha to set up security force like NSG
Saturday, November 29, 2008 19:15 [IST]

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh Saturday said the state will set up a special security force on the lines of the National Security Guard (NSG) to prevent terror attacks of the kind that hit Mumbai.

"A force on the lines of the NSG will be set up in Maharashtra," Deshmukh told reporters at a press conference here.

"We will get permission to set up such a force from the centre," he added.

The chief minister said 350 NSG commandos were involved in the 59-hour operation against the terrorists who attacked 10 prominent places in Mumbai Wednesday night.

According to Deshmukh, at least 162 people, including 18 foreigners, were killed and 239 were injured in the attacks.
