Khabarovsk: The assassination rate has gone down in Russia, the country's Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika has said in an interview to a private television channel.
"Previously, assassins targeted members and leaders of criminal groups and businessmen. Modern assassinations are targeting civil servants," he said during the Vesti Nedeli programme in Rossiya channel.
"We are analysing the new situation in order to optimise our response." A team of 25 detectives has been formed to solve these crimes. More than 200 police officers are assisting the team, he said.
"We hope that concentration of efforts will help identify everyone involved in the attack on Drozdova and Karayev," Chaika said speaking about the recent attack on Samara Regional Court Chairperson Lyubov Drozdova and Vladikavkaz administration head Valery Karayev.
Chaika said they were considering various theories, including professional activities of the victim. "Naturally, it is not easy to solve crimes of this kind, but I hope that our efforts will bring positive results. "We are working to identify the organisers of this kind of crimes," he said.
