New Delhi: P Chidamabaram today assumed charge as the country s new Home Minister in place of Shivraj Patil who resigned in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks. Chidambarm, 63, dressed in his trademark dhoti, shirt and a shawl, was received by Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta at the North Block office. The Minister was briefed by senior officials of the Home Ministry, including Gupta.
