Five Maoist rebels arrested in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Five Maoist rebels have been arrested in the jungles close to this Jharkhand capital city Monday, the police said.

The Maoist rebels belonging to the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a breakaway group of outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were arrested from the jungles under Bero block of Ranchi district, around 60 km from the capital headquarters.

The arrested PLFI members were holding a meeting when security forces raided their hideout.

The police have seized two 9 mm pistol, two revolvers, more than 100 live cartridges, Maoist literature and a bike from the rebels.

In the last fortnight, the Jharkhand police have arrested more than 40 Maoist rebels of different groups.
