Congress wins Baharampur civic polls

Baharampur (WB): Congress won the Baharampur Municipal elections in Murshidabad district of West Bengal for the third time today in a clean sweep of all the 25 seats.

The winners included the Chairman of Berhampore Municipalty Nilratan Adda.

Thanking people for reposing faith on the Congress, party MP Adhir Choudhury said they will now demand for upgrading the Baharampore Municipalty into Baharampur Municipal Corportation.

Chodhury said the proposed corporation should include neighbouring Murshidabad, Sagardighi, Ziaganj, Beldanga towns - having different municipal boards at present.
