President visits Karkare's residence

Mumbai: President Pratibha Patil today visited the residence of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare who fell to terrorists bullets in Mumbai and offered her condolences to his family.

Patil, who arrived here yesterday from Indonesia cutting short her tour abroad by two days in the wake of the terror strikes, made a brief visit to Karkare's residence at the police quarters in central Mumbai. The President also went to the residence of encounter specialist Vijay Salaskar, who also laid down his life battling terrorists on November 26.
