Amritsar: Member Parliament and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today claimed that the SAD-BJP combine Government in Punjab was fully committed to implement its economic agenda of overall development of the State.
Addressing a gathering here after inaugurating a 300 MT capacity News Print Plant setup at Khanna Paper Mills, he said that for the overall and speedy development of the State it becomes imperative to ensure the considerable participation of the private sector.
Sukhbir said that an International Airport at Mohali and two domestic airports at Sahnewal and Bathinda were being setup to facilitate the easy movement of people as well as goods, as Punjab being a landlocked State have a limited connectivity.
He said that the construction of express way from Mohali Airport to Jalandhar, first of its kind in the State would be started within a period of 4-5 months. The construction of Pathankot to Jaipur express way via Jalandhar, Moga, Bathinda and Ajmer would see the light of the day within 6-8 months and would be completed in a record time of 2 years and it would cut short the journey about 300 kms.
Sukhbir claimed that the State Government had chalked out a plan of Rs. 1000 crore for the complete redesigning of major cities Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Mohali.
Emphasising the need for ensuring quality education in the State, he said that setting up of Indian School of Business in Mohali, Dhiru Bhai Ambani Institute of Information Technology at Ropar, World Class University at Amritsar and Central University at Bathinda would give a much needed boost to the higher education in the State.
