Security tightened at Kochi airport

Kochi: Security at Kochi International airport at nearby Nedumbassery has been beefed up in the wake of the alert from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) that there was a possiblity of terrorist attack on airports on December 3,4 and 5,airport sources said.

The BCAS informed Airport Director A C K Nair that terrorists could hijack an aircraft and attack airports during these days, the sources said.

A special security meeting was convened this evening at the airport and security arrangements evaluated following receipt of the information. Passengers have been asked to report at the airport sufficiently early to undergo various checks.
