3 more die of encephalitis; toll rises to 476

Gorakhpur (UP): With three more children succumbing to encephalitis today, the cumulative death toll due to brain fever in Uttar Pradesh this year mounted to 476, sources said.

Meanwhile, seven new patients suspected of suffering from encephalitis have been admitted to BRD Medical College hospital today, the sources said, adding that a total of 2,600 cases of brain fever have been registered at BRD Medical College since January this year.

Currently a total of 96 patients suffering from brain fever are being treated at BRD Medical College Hospital and adjoining district hospitals.
