School teacher held for misbehaving with students
Wednesday, December 03, 2008 12:34 [IST]

Puducherry: A physical education teacher of a government high school near here has been arrested on the charge of misbehaving with three girl students.

The 34-year old teacher of the school at Uruvayaru was arrested yesterday and cases under IPC sections 354 (assault and criminal force to women with intent to outrage her modesty) and section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) reigstered against him, police said today.

He had also allegedly intimidated the students not to speak about the incident, which occurred in the school's computer lab on Monday, with anyone.

Earlier, parents and the students had staged a road roko near the school seeking dismissal of the teacher.

Officials of the Department of Education had held discussions with the parents and also office-bearers of the Parents Teachers Association following complaints of the teacher`s alleged behaviour.

An official source said that the teacher was already under suspension following `brutal attack` of some students in the school a few months ago.
