New Delhi: US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice today assured Leader of Opposition L K Advani that the US would ensure India's concerns about use of Pakistani soil for terrorist activity are registered with that country's authorities.
"Secretary of State, Rice conveyed USA's understanding of the situation and assured Advani that the US would exert to ensure that these concerns are registered with the Pakistan authorities," Advani said in a press statement.
During the 40-minute meeting between Rice and Advani this evening, the BJP leader told her about the anguish of the people at the continuing attacks on India.
"This is despite the many assurances that Pakistan has given to stop all terrorist activity from the soil of Pakistan, in particular in the joint statement issued by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee and President Pervez Musharraf on January 6, 2004," Advani said.
The saffron party leader also told Rice that though the actual assault may have been carried out by members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, the training, equipment and co-ordination that went into it established that it could not have been done "except with knowledge, guidance, training and resources of Pakistan's agencies".
