Shepherd killed in grenade blast in J-K
Friday, December 05, 2008 11:34 [IST]

Jammu: A shepherd was killed in an accidental grenade blast in an army firing range area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

Sanjit Singh, while returning home from the forest area last night, accidentally stepped on a grenade at the Nonihal army firing range in Nowshera border belt of Rajouri district, resulting in blast, they said.

The grenade was among the over 300 grenades fired by the army during a practice exercise held yesterday. It seemed the grenade was not removed from the area even after the usual area-clearing exercise, police said.

A case in this regard has been registered by the police.
