Moscow: A Russian fighter jet crashed in Siberia on Friday killing the pilot, the Emergency Situations Ministry said, quoted by Russian news agencies.
The Soviet-designed MiG-29 jet crashed in the Chita district of Zabaykalsky Krai some 4,750 kilometres (2,950 miles) east of Moscow, the Interfax and RIA Novosti news agencies reported.
The loss was confirmed by air force spokesman Vladimir Drik, RIA Novosti reported.
Such incidents are relatively common in Russia's air force.
A MiG-29 also crashed in Chita in October, although on that occasion the pilot survived.
