Lucknow: In the backdrop of recent terror attacks in Mumbai, the Uttar Pradesh government has beefed up security arrangements at all government establishments across the state, including Vidhan Bhawan.
Commandos of the state police are being deployed at all key places, besides erecting bunkers and watch towers at important installations, official sources said today.
"Bunkers of over 12 feet height will be constructed at Chief Minister's office and Vidhan Bhawan where commandos will be deployed," a senior official told PTI.
Quick Response Teams (QRT) have also been deployed in and around highly sensitive areas, he said, adding that entry through valid passes and identity cards would be allowed in multi-storied government buildings, including Jawahar Bhawan, Indira Bhawan and Bapu Bhawavn.
Besides, a sizable contingent of PAC personnel has been deployed in these areas, he said.
The Uttar Pradesh government has already decided to double its police force by recruiting over 1.58 lakh personnel and purchasing latest arms and equipments for them.
