Jerusalem: Moshe Holtzberg, the 2-year-old boy orphaned in the Nariman House terror attack in Mumbai, is living with his Indian nanny at an undisclosed location in north of Israel while his grandparents observe the traditional week-long mourning.
Sandra Samuel, the nanny who showed exemplary courage in running away with the child during the siege at the Nariman House, was granted special permission by the Israeli government to enter the country.
The nanny and the toddler have been kept in an apartment in north of Israel while families of slain Chabad emissaries, Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and Rivika, sit in "Shiva", seven days of traditional mourning period, at the boy's maternal grandparents place in Afula, the media here reported.
"The whole world wants to interview (Samuel), and it's important to let her rest," Yehuda Donin, a relative of the Holtzbergs, told Ha aretz without disclosing the location.
Israel has been mulling over granting Samuel the highest civilian honour meant for non-Jews, the "Righteous Gentile", which will put her in the same league as Oscar Schindler - made famous by Steven Spielberg's film Schindler's List , allowing her to stay in Israel.
Meanwhile, the family has decided that "it is important that the people of Israel know what happened there (in Mumbai)," and agreed to grant interviews to Israel's largest circulated daily, Yedioth Ahronoth, local Channel 2 and CNN. Source : PTI |
