France lauds India's restraint
Friday, December 05, 2008 20:18 [IST]

New Delhi: Lauding India for showing restraint in the face of the terror attack in Mumbai by "foreign terrorists", France Friday asked Pakistan to fully cooperate in the investigations.

"India knows how to defend its interest but its reaction has been very mature. It is not very easy to control when the attack comes from a foreign country," said Gerard Raaud, director general of political affairs and security in the French foreign ministry.

President Nocolas Sarkozy has told both Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari that France expects Pakistan to fully participate and take concrete measures so that these kind of attacks do not happen again, he recalled.

The diplomat underlined that Pakistan's democracy has to be supportive and said it was not a problem of Pakistan alone but also affected Afghanistan.
