Chandigarh: Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board has decided to set up Cold Chain in 11 districts of the state to preserve agricultural produce.
The Cold Chain would be set up in Sirsa, Panchkula, Panipat, Hisar, Narnaul, Rohtak, Karnal, Gurgaon, Shahbad (Kurukshetra), Jhajjar and Sonipat and a sum of Rs 71 crore would be spent on the scheme.
This was disclosed by Board Chairman Shadi Lal Batra while addressing fruit cultivating farmers and entrepreneurs at Abub-Shahar village in Sirsa today.
He said an amount of Rs 13 crore has already been released for providing chain related facility in four mandis of the state.
Batra said a food processing plant would be set up on 16 acres of land at Abub-Shahar at a cost of Rs 65 crore.
