Mumbai: Mohammad Ajmal Amir, the lone terrorist arrested on 26/11,has shown the police the location of his house in Pakistan with the help of Google Earth, a crime branch officer said.
On Google Earth, Ajmal was quick to point out exactly where his house is situated in the Dipalpur area of Okhara district in the Punjab province of Pakistan, a crime branch officer said requesting anonymity.
He looked quite at ease while working with Google Earth, the officer added. Three terrorists, including Ajmal, came from Okhara, three came from Multan, two came from Faisalabad, one from Dera Ismail Khan and one from Sialkot, the police said. All these areas are in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
Ajmal was also able to identify certain landmarks near the place of his residence, the officer said. "During the process, Ajmal got nostalgic and also pointed out places where he used to hang out as a teenager," the officer said.
The police also asked him to identify places where he was trained by the Lashkar-e-Tayiba (LeT). Even though Ajmal was able to locate the area, he was not able to pinpoint the training camps, the officer said. "Since most of the training took place in jungles and isolated places, Ajmal was not able to pinpoint the locations but he had a fair idea of the locations," the officer said.
Ajmal identified the Mansera Camp in Muzaffarabad, the Baitul Mujahideen camp and the location in Karachi where the 10 terrorists were kept in isolation for three months before they left for Mumbai on their terror mission.
Ajmal also showed the police the waterfront in Karachi from where the terror group boarded the Al-Husseini ship. The Crime Branch, however, refused to reveal the name of the place. "We have made a report on the places identified by Ajmal and have sent it to the central agencies for further action," the officer said.
