Govt's stand on terrorist nationality vindicated
Saturday, December 13, 2008 21:16 [IST]
New Delhi: Railways Minister Lalu Prasad today said that the government's stand on the nationality of captured terrorist Ajmal Amir Iman has been vindicated in the light of reports emerging in the Pakistani media.

"There was never any doubt about his being a Pakistani national and our government was very clear on that," Prasad said when asked about his reaction on the terrorist's father acknowledging him as his son.

According to media reports, his father has acknowledged that Amir Iman also known as Ajmal Amir Kasab has acknowledged that the captured terrorist was his son.

Prasad pointed out that many foreigners were also killed in the Mumbai terror attacks and that India was coordinating with other countries in dealing with the situation arising out of them.

He also expressed concern that Railway properties were becoming soft targets.

Modernisation of RPF, deployment of more forces and sniffer dogs, installation of the latest equipment, including CCTV, are some of the steps being taken by the Railways to counter terror threats, he said.
