Cong promises to fund marriage of poor girls

 Jammu: The Congress today said it will raise a corpus of Rs 20 crore for the marriage of poor girls, including those in SC and ST categories, if voted to power.

Campaigning for the sixth phase of elections former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said a special scheme to fund education of girl students from BPL families beyond matriculation would be launched.

In Doda and Ramban districts, he said, if voted to power, Congress would launch special schemes for the welfare and education of poor.

The party would undertake welfare measures for those living in hilly and far-flung areas, he added.
