Security guard opens fire, 1 injured in Bangalore
Thursday, December 18, 2008 12:41 [IST]

Bangalore: One person suffered bullet injuries when a security guard of the Airforce Training College opened fire from his revolver to foil the attempt of a five-member gang that tried to gain entry into the campus.

Police said the gang with an intention to commit theft, in their bid to sneak into the college, hurled stones at the security guard Amarik Singh to divert his attention last night.

However, the unfazed guard opened four rounds of fire injuring one of the gang members, who was identified as Nazir. Four others managed to escape, police said. The injured has been admitted to a private hospital, police said.
