New Delhi: Holding that lack of unity and coordination among partymen led to Congress debacle in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh polls, party chief Sonia Gandhi today asked leaders to take "appropriate lessons" from the drubbing.
In her first remarks on the outcome of the assembly polls, Gandhi said, "there are a number of reasons behind this setback. "But to my mind the lack of unity and coordination amongst our colleagues in these two states have been the main factor," she told a general body meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party here.
Gandhi also accused the BJP of politicising the Mumbai terror srikes in the most provocative way and said people of Delhi have rejected the "vicious propaganda" of the saffron party.
"The BJP had predicted that the Congress would loose all the states. It had politicised the Mumbai terror attacks in a most provocative way. "The people of Delhi rejected such a vicious propaganda and have given our party yet another term after 10 years in office".
She rued that Congress lost in the two states which had been its traditional strongholds, but voiced satisfaction over the party increasing the number of seats and vote share. "But that is small consolation," she said, asking partymen to take "appropriate lessons" from the defeat.
