25 child labourers rescued in Erode

Erode: Twenty five child labourers, who have been employed in automobile workshops, hotels and shops, across Erode district have been rescued by the Labour Welfare Department, department officials said here.

The Labour Welfare Departmental officials conducted surprise raids in 432 shops, business establishments and other places in the district yesterday.

They said, the rescued children were below 14 years of age and cases had been registered against the persons who had employed them.

Some of the rescued children expressed their willingness to join schools and they would be accommodated in the National Child Labourers schools in 25 places in the district, the officials said.
