Chennai: In the wake of the Mumbai terror strikes, a top police official today said industries must make their own security arrangements as it will enable deployment of bulk of the police force to guard public places like railway stations.
Chennai Police Commissioner K Radhakrishnan said "industries must have their own private security agencies so that we are able to protect public places where people throng in large numbers".
He was addressing a workshop on Security for Business Enterprises" organised by Tamil Nadu State council of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
"On a single day around 5,000 people visit the Central Railway Station and it would be better for us to provide security in such sensitive areas than providing at private places" he said.
Later, Radhakrishnan told reporters there were plans to have a separate group for handling issues related to terrorism. "We have recruited the adequate manpower and may acquire some more weapons in days to come," he said. Source : PTI
