New Delhi: Contrary to the claims of Maharahtra ATS, Delhi Police today said they were not sure about the role of IT analyst Mohammad Talha in the September blasts here or his links with the five alleged Indian Mujahideen militants, at present in jail.
ATS picked up 23-year-old Talha, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, for his alleged role in procuring arms and explosives which were used in the recent blasts and is at present in its custody till January three.
However, the sources in the Special Cell of Delhi Police said Talha's name did not figure in the interrogation report of the five accused arrested after the serial blasts here. They said they were not even informed by the Maharashtra ATS about his arrest.
"The Delhi Police has not been communicated by the Maharashtra ATS so far," the sources said.
"Since he stayed in Delhi before moving to Hyderabad and many of the accused arrested for Delhi blasts were from UP's Azamgarh, from where he hails from, it is difficult to say at present about his direct or indirect involvememt in this case," they said.
Two alleged Indian Mujahideen militants were killed in Batla house encounter in September soon after the serial blasts in Delhi. The special cell has recently filed a chargesheet against all accused in the Delhi serial blasts case.
Talha's arrest by ATS has led to widespread agitation back in his hometown and his father, Maulana Aamir Rashadi, claims that his son was innocent and he had no role in anti-social activities.
