Kottayam: Playing her social engineering card in Kerala, BSP leader and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today accused the Congress and BJP of failing to ensure social justice.
Addressing a brotherhood rally organised by the Kerala unit of BSP here, she said there has been no improvement in the conditions of the poor class in the past 60 years.
"The rich are becoming richer, while the poor are becoming poorer," she said.
Mayawati said the BSP was not against the upper castes and promised to provide reservation for the economically weaker sections among forward communities, if voted to power.
She also claimed that the welfare schemes being implemented by her government in Uttar Pradesh has helped the party regain the faith of the forward communities.
"Unlike other political parties, the BSP aims at social transformation. The people of Kerala should create an atmosphere to implement social transformation," she said.
Mayawati also pointed out that people need a party which could bring about a complete change in the country.
On the issue of reservation in the private sector, she said the BSP had repeatedly taken up the matter with the Centre, but to no avail.
Meanwhile, BSP general secretary Suresh Mane claimed that the party would change the history of the country and that Mayawati would become Prime Minister by 2009. A third front would be constituted under her leadership, he said.
A sum of Rs 10 lakh and a silver crown were presented to her by the party supporters on the occasion.
