Chandigarh: Amritsar today shivered with the minimum plummeting to 2.4 degrees celsius as cold wave further intensified in Punjab and Haryana.
While Amritsar was the coldest place in the plains of the region, Narnaul in Haryana also braved a cold night at 3 degrees celsius, which was three degrees below normal, the Meteorological Department said here.
Rohtak also reeled under severe cold at 4.8 C, down by a degree while the low at Ambala settled at 6 C. Karnal, too, experienced a cold night at 7 C, one below normal.
Chandigarh witnessed a further drop in the minimum since yesterday. The low here settled at 5 C, a degree below normal.
Cold conditions also had Ludhiana under its grip where the minimum settled at 5.4 C, down by one degree. Patiala was also cold at 5.9 C.
Meanwhile, the Met said that fog continued to engulf the region. The visibility in early morning was poor at Amritsar (100 m), Pathankot (200 m), Adampur (zero), Halwara (zero), Ambala (zero), Bathinda (800 m), Sirsa (500 m) and Chandigarh (800 m). Source : PTI
