Amethi: A congress MLA and his 15 supporters were today injured in police lathicharge on Faizabad-Jagdishpur highway when they tried to block the road in protest against the arrest of persons from his constituency.

The incident took place this afternoon when congress MLA Ram Sewak Dhobi was protesting the arrest of persons from his constituency by resorting to traffic jam on the highway when his supporters clashed with the police, sources said here.

The police resorted to lathicharge in which the MLA and 15 others were injured, they said.
