Sanghvi gets Lokmanya Tilak National Award

Pune: Editorial director of the Hindustan Times , Vir Sanghvi, has been selected for the first Lokmanya Tilak National Award 2009 for excellence in journalism.

Announcing this here today, Deepak Tilak, trustee-editor of Kesari said that the award which carries a citation and a sum of Rs one lakh will be given to Sanghvi on January 4,2009 which also marks the 128th anniversary of the paper (Kesari), launched by Lokmanya Tilak in 1881 to oppose the British rule and galvanise the freedom struggle.

Deepak, who is the great grandson of Lokmanya Tilak, said the award had been instituted to uphold the spirit of journalism.
