BJP reacts sharply to Pak allegations
Friday, December 26, 2008 21:08 [IST]

New Delhi: BJP today reacted sharply to Pakistan's allegation that an "Indian" was involved in the recent bomb blasts in Lahore and demanded that the Indian government take a tough stand on the issue.

"Pakistan has started a deliberate campaign of war-mongering and has now gone one step ahead to accuse India of organising terror acts in Pakistan and allowing its soil for terror acts in Pakistan.

This is a case of Ulta Chor Kotwal ko date (a thief admonishing a policeman)," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.

Pakistani authorities have arrested a person for his alleged involvement in the Lahore blasts and claimed that he is an Indian.

The National Assembly of Pakistan has also passed a resolution asking India to refrain "from activities undermining Pakistan's sovereignty".

The BJP said though one month has passed since the Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian government has not been able to get back the fugitives involved in the attacks or make Pakistan accept its involvement.

Neither has the Pakistan government accepted that Ajmal Amir Iman, the terrorist who was captured alive in the Mumbai terror attacks, is its citizen.

The party alleged that Union Minister A R Antulay's statement about the circumstances that led to ATS chief Hemant Karkare's death could have helped Pakistan.

It also reacted to Interpol chief Ronald Noble's statement that India had not supplied the required information about the terror attacks. "This has proved a jolt in our campaign (against terrorism) on the world stage," Javadekar said.

Noble had visited India recently and upon leaving the country stated that India had not shared data about the terror attacks and those involved in it.
