Srinagar: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti was today elected to the Jammu and Kashmir assembly from Wachi constituency, defeating Shoukat Hussain Ganai of National Conference by a margin of over 8,000 votes.

Mehbooba, a sitting Lok Sabha member from Anantnag-Pulwama parliamentary constituency, polled 12,808 votes while her NC rival got 4,420 votes.
