Congress foundation day observed in Mumbai

Mumbai: Maharashtra Congress today celebrated the 123rd foundation day of the party here.

State working president Jaywantrao Awale and other prominent office-bearers participated in the flag hoisting programme at the party's state unit headquarters Tilak Bhavan .

Homage was paid to the martyrs and victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Maharashtra Pradesh Seva Dal paid tribute to slain policeman Tukaram Omble who sacrificed his life while capturing Ajmal Kasab, the Pakistani terrorist, alive.

A compensation of Rs 1 lakh was given to his family members on the occasion.

At the Mumbai congress office, city unit chief Kripashankar Singh hoisted the party flag.
