60 chicken culled in Rourkela
Sunday, December 28, 2008 14:56 [IST]
Rourkela: About 60 chickens, seized by GRP here when they were being transported from bird flu-hit West Bengal in a train, were culled today in Rourkela, official sources said.

The birds were in two gunny bags, Government Railway Police sources said, adding that in the absence of any claimant of the consignment no arrest could be made.

This was the second culling incident in the state. Recently nearly a thousand birds were culled near Balasore which were being transported into the state in a passenger bus.

Orissa government has banned import of chicken following outbreak of avian flu in neighbouring West Bengal and Assam.
