Terrorism, price rise main polls planks for BJP
Sunday, December 28, 2008 15:52 [IST]
Dehra Dun: The ruling BJP in Uttarakhand will make terrorism and price rise as the main poll planks in the upcoming general elections, a party resolution has said.

A two-day working committee meeting of the party began at Roorkee town in Haridwar district yesterday to devise strategies ahead of the Lok Sabha elections "most likely" to be held in April-May next year.

"The party will use terrorism, in the wake of Mumbai attacks, as well as price rise as its main poll planks in the coming general elections," said the resolution passed in the meeting, attended by Chief Minister B C Khanduri, state party president Bachi Singh Rawat and other top leaders.

The centre failed to contain terrorism, the resolution charged, adding the BJP will support any tough measure by the (Central) government to rein in the menace.

It also criticised the UPA government for abolition of tough acts like POTA and for not hanging Afzal Guru, the prime accused in the 2002 Parliament attack case.
