Rahul and I can work together: Omar Abdullah
Sunday, December 28, 2008 17:59 [IST]
Srinagar: Can't the third generation Gandhi and Nehru families work together?

This impromptu poser from National Conference President Omar Abdullah came while replying to queries from mediaperson as to whether he had spoken to Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi amid a likelihood of the two parties coming together to form the next government.

"My grandfather (Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah) worked with his grandmother (Indira Gandhi), my father (Farooq Abdullah) worked with his father (Rajiv Gandhi), so I think we can also work together," said Omar, a potential chief ministerial candidate.

The National Conference President, who had a convincing win from Ganderbal assembly constituency, said that he had worked closely with Rahul in Parliament. "May be the time has come for us to work together at the state level as well," Omar added. Rahul and Omar, the scions of their respective families, are in their late thirties.
