New Delhi: The BJP today said the high voter turnout in the seven-phased Jammu and Kashmir election and the subsequent results was a reply to separatists that "their time is over".
BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters that the election results indicated people s preference for nationalistic India.
"People have indicated their preference about nationalistic India and is a very frank reply to the separatists that their time is over, both in terms of voter percentage and results," Prasad said.
Earlier, the seven-phased election for the 89-seat strong State Assembly saw an unprecedented high voter turnout of 61.5 per cent in spite of a boycott call given by the separatists.
The elections were held in the backdrop of the Amarnath land row which had sparked off protests marches and violence in different parts of the state.
The separatists who were hoping for a good show of their own, had to bite the dust after the large turnout in all the phases. Source : PTI
